ROY ANTHONY SHABLA
T is for TREASON / PORTFOLIO X

Los Angeles Center for Digital Art and Roy Anthony Shabla are proud to announce T is for TREASON / PORTFOLIO X, an exhibit of politically-charged digital-image prints running from April 12 to May 5.

Roy Anthony Shabla is a career poet, painter, and digital artist living in the Los Angeles area. He is Director of Collections for Downey Museum of Art and hosts a monthly cultural event of art, poetry, and music in Downey, the green salon.

T is for TREASON / PORTFOLIO X is an on-going group of prints coupling images of revolution and redemption. A guillotine, symbol of the French Revolution, is coupled with a hummingbird, a butterfly, a scarab, etc., and an electric chair, the once-preferred method of execution for treason in America, is coupled with a sparrow. The electric chair holds a velvet pillow, suggesting that the privileged class be held accountable for its crimes against the nation and the people of the nation.

Shabla’s non-narrative, multi-film installation, signs of the times –which predicted the current social and political state of America– will show in an abbreviated version for the run of the exhibit.

Los Angeles Center for Digital Art is the premier gallery for digital art in the United States. The reception for T is for TREASON / PORTFOLIO X is Saturday April 14, 6 to 9pm.
